The Golden Plates-This day in History

" The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion-the keystone of our testimony, the keystone of our doctrine, and the keystone in the witness of our Lord and Savior."

Ezra Taft Benson

September 22 is a date closely associated with the Book of Mormon. On this date in 1823. Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith at the Hill Cumorah and showed him the gold plates for the first time. He visited the prophet on the same date for the next four years until, in 1827, Joseph received the plates, the Urim and Thummim, and the breastplate. The primary purpose of the Book of Mormon is to testify of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon changes lives as we learn of and draw closer to the Savior. The Prophet Joseph testified that "the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book"

What an amazing opportunity we have before us. We live in times that are troubled but we also have many gifts that have been restored for our days. If you are not familiar with the teachings of The Book of Mormon I challenge you to reach out and get a copy; Read, Ponder and Pray about what it holds.
